Green eradication road: Lands encroached at gunpoint DMK former MLA Parthiban said that the lands was encroached by intimidating the public at the gun point, for the green eradication road (green corridor) project. Under Bharatmala Pariyojana Scheme, the Central Government is planning to set up a green eradication road between Chennai and Salem at a cost of Rs 10,000 crore. The project length is 277.3 kilometers. It is said that the only reason for the project is to cut down the distance. Lands are being encroached in five districts - Salem, Dharmapuri, Kanchipuram, Krishnagiri and Thiruvannamalai, for the project.
