Gouden's are a dominant caste in Western parts of Tamil Nadu. Even the present Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu is from this particular caste. In western part the major source of income is agricultural and weaving apart from others.
The caste discrimination is rampant in these districts and hardly a dalit movement has emerged. In this background an arundhathiyar (Dalit) in Kannuvukarai village of Annur town ask the gounden in whose land the dalit labourer worked. The gounden did not pay the salary and delayed it for 3 months. The dalit labourer approached the police but they were silent. The gounden gave his goat to the dalit labourer and asked him to keep until he returns the money. the next day the gounden along with others tied the dalit labourer and beat him black and blue for giving police complaint. After the violence the gounden calls the cops. Cops come and dont say anything. While the laborers mother calls the 108 ambulance as the laborer was found lying on floor without consciousness. They were  taken to Coimbatore hospital and were admitted for a week. After their return they again went to the police station for complain. The police were reluctant to file the villagers protested again were beaten black and blue by the police.
